The left medallion contains the inscriptions 'FREEDOM OF SPEECH' and 'FREEDOM OF RELIGION', while the right medallion bears 'FREEDOM FROM WANT' and 'FREEDOM FROM FEAR', referencing Roosevelt's Four Freedoms. The overall design is composed entirely of fine lathe-work geometric patterns with no pictorial vignette.
