| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central device consists of the heraldic emblem of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta: an eight-pointed Maltese Cross within a circular wreath of laurel branches, surmounted by a sovereign's crown bearing a small cross at its apex. A ribbon scroll at the base of the wreath bears the inscription 'KNIGHTS OF MALTA'. The date '2004' is divided either side of the central device in the lower field, with the denomination '100 LIRAS' and the initials 'O.S.J.' inscribed below. The full Italian title 'SOVRANO OSPEDALIERO ORDINE DI MALTA' curves along the upper periphery. The reverse is bordered by a fine toothed or beaded rim. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Order of Malta issued this piece to mark Hungary's accession to the European Union on 1 May 2004, one of the ten states admitted in the largest single enlargement in the EU's history. The Order maintains a unique position in international law — a sovereign entity without territory, recognized by over a hundred states — which gives its commemorative coinage a juridical curiosity: these are technically legal tender of a sovereign issuer, though the Order has no population to spend them.
