Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents canonical depictions of the Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul, rendered in a traditional iconographic style. The two figures are shown holding between them a medallion bearing the image of Jesus Christ. Above the figures, a two-line inscription in Cyrillic identifies the saints as СВ. СВ. ПЕТЪР И ПАВЕЛ (St. Peter and St. Paul). The composition reflects the rich Byzantine iconographic tradition characteristic of Bulgarian Orthodox religious art.

Aanvullende informatie

The Apostles Peter and Paul hold particular significance in Bulgarian Orthodoxy through the feast of Saints Peter and Paul on July 12th (new style), which marks the end of the Apostles' Fast — one of the four major fasting periods in the Orthodox calendar. Bulgaria's National Bank has drawn on this tradition for commemorative issues before, though the 2024 gold strikes in this series are among the finer executions in recent decades. KM#383 places this piece within a well-documented run of Bulgarian commemorative gold.
