Waterlow & Sons collapsed as an independent entity in 1961, absorbed into De La Rue after a long decline — which means the later dates in this series required a different printer or a negotiated continuation arrangement. Notes bearing dates after 1961 within this P#49 span deserve closer scrutiny of the printer credit, since the Waterlow imprint could not have been freshly applied post-acquisition without De La Rue's involvement.
The 1950 Honduran banking reform, which established the Banco Central as the sole note-issuing authority, is the political event that brought this denomination into existence.
