Beschrijving keerzijde Central design features the official UNICEF emblem — a stylized globe rendered with meridian and latitude lines, overlaid with the organisation's name UNICEF in bold capital letters across the middle band, and surmounted by the United Nations laurel wreath device enclosing a mother-and-child motif. Below the globe, the commemorative dates 1946-1996 mark the fiftieth anniversary of UNICEF's founding. The curved legend COMITETUL NATIONAL ROMAN arcs along the lower periphery in Latin capitals, identifying the Romanian National Committee. The smooth field surrounding the central device is entirely plain, giving the design a clean, modern character.

Aanvullende informatie

This coin was issued to mark the 50th anniversary of UNICEF, a commemoration Romania shared with dozens of other minting countries in 1996. Romania's participation carried particular weight — UNICEF had maintained an active presence in the country since the early 1990s, when international agencies responded to the catastrophic conditions uncovered in state orphanages following the fall of Ceaușescu's regime.
