The Moldovan state coat of arms is depicted at centre, featuring an eagle displayed holding an olive branch in its dexter talon and a sceptre in its sinister talon, with a shield on its breast charged with the traditional aurochs head, star, rose, and crescent. The eagle surmounts a patriarchal cross. The legend REPUBLICA to the left and MOLDOVA to the right arc along the upper periphery, flanking the date 2007 at the top. The denomination 100 LEI is inscribed in large numerals within a recessed panel in the lower field, separated from the coat of arms by a horizontal line. The design is executed in proof finish with deeply mirrored fields contrasting the frosted relief. |

A facing bust of Petru Rareș, Prince of Moldavia, occupies the centre of the field, rendered in a medieval portrait style inspired by contemporary iconography. The prince is depicted wearing an ornate jewelled crown with pointed finials and richly embroidered robes with a beaded collar. To the left of the bust appear the dates 1527 and 2007, commemorating the 480th anniversary of his accession to the throne. A depiction of a medieval fortress or citadel appears in the lower right field. The legend PETRU RAREȘ arcs along the lower periphery in Gothic-style lettering, all in high-relief proof finish against mirrored fields. |
