| 正面铭文 | CAROL I DOMNUL ROMANIEI * 100 LEI * A. MICHAUX (Translation: Carol I, Lord of Romania) |
| 背面描述 | Mature, bearded effigy of Carol I as King of Romania, facing left, rendered in bold high relief with finely detailed hair and full beard befitting his later reign. The legend CAROL I REGE AL ROMANIEI arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by two five-pointed stars at lower left and right. The commemorative date range 1866-1906 is inscribed in the lower field, marking the 40th anniversary of Carol I's accession, with the engraver's initials A.M. visible beneath the portrait. A uniform beaded rim frames the design. |

Issued to mark the 40th anniversary of Carol I's reign and the General Exposition of Bucharest in 1906, this piece was struck as a commemorative rather than a circulation coin — Romania's first major international showcase since independence. The exposition itself was modeled deliberately on the great European world's fairs and drew over 1.3 million visitors to a country still asserting its place among recognized modern states.
Mintage was tightly controlled, and surviving examples almost invariably show minimal wear consistent with their commemorative intent.
