Obverse description The complete national arms of Zambia occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with wavy vertical lines representing the Victoria Falls, surmounted by a fish eagle with wings displayed standing atop crossed pickaxes. The shield is supported on the dexter side by a man in shirt and shorts and on the sinister side by a woman in traditional dress, both standing on a grassy compartment. A scroll below bears the national motto ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION in two segments. The legend ZAMBIA arcs above along the upper rim, and the date 1998 appears in the lower field.
