Obverse description The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Zambia in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The shield, bearing a wavy pattern representing the Zambezi River, is supported by a male figure to the left and a female figure to the right, both rendered in fine detail. Above the shield, an African fish eagle with wings spread occupies the crest. A scroll in the lower portion of the arms bears the national motto ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION in the legend. The country name ZAMBIA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 1998 displayed in the lower field.
