Obverse description The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Zambia in high relief at the center of the field. The shield, bearing a wavy pattern representing the Zambezi River, is supported by a man in casual dress to the left and a woman in traditional dress to the right. Above the shield, an African fish eagle with wings spread serves as the crest, while a pickaxe and hoe appear crossed behind it. A scroll at the base of the arms bears the national motto ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION. The legend ZAMBIA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 1998 inscribed in the lower field.
