| 备注 |
The Reserve Bank of Malawi introduced this denomination amid the political turbulence surrounding Malawi's transition from Banda's one-party state to multiparty democracy — a referendum on the system was held in June 1993, and general elections followed in 1994. The timing of this series places it squarely across that constitutional rupture, though the notes themselves show no visible sign of the change in government.
Thomas De La Rue's production for Malawi during this period relied on a single-thread watermark as the primary security feature — modest by contemporary standards, and a known vulnerability that contributed to counterfeiting pressure on higher denominations in the region during the early 1990s.
