Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Mehmed VI, rendered in fine relief with characteristic sweeping loops and vertical strokes. The tughra is flanked on either side by symmetrically arranged olive and laurel branches tied at the base with a floral ornament, above which tulip blossoms appear in low relief. A border of seven five-pointed stars encircles the upper portion of the design, separated from the rim by a continuous beaded border. The regnal year numeral appears below the tughra at the base of the floral arrangement.
