| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra (imperial cipher) of Sultan Abdülaziz, rendered in finely detailed calligraphic relief. The tughra is flanked on either side by an open wreath of laurel branches, their stems tied at the base. The regnal year appears below the tughra within the wreath. A border of seven six-pointed stars encircles the upper portion of the design, framing the composition against the milled rim. |
