Ib Andersen was one of Denmark's most respected graphic artists, and the Nationalbank gave him genuine latitude with this series — an unusual arrangement for central bank commissions of that period. The result was a note that broke decisively from the architectural formality of earlier Danish issues.
The compass watermark identifies this as Type 1 within the series, distinguishing it from later printings that used a different watermark configuration. The Nationalbank's in-house printing works handled production throughout, which gave Denmark tighter control over security specifications than countries relying on contract printers abroad.
