The Oesterreichisch-ungarische Bank's 1912 100 Kronen was among the last issues printed before the First World War dismantled the dual monarchy's currency system entirely. The Austro-Hungarian crown had been on a gold standard since 1892, but notes of this denomination circulated well beyond that framework's collapse — surviving into the chaotic post-1918 period when both Austria and the successor states temporarily overstamped or accepted old imperial notes pending their own currency arrangements.
The Vienna printing origin is confirmed for this issue; some later wartime Kronen denominations involved outside contractors, but the 1912 series remained a domestic production throughout.
