Aanvullende informatie

This coin was issued to mark the bicentenary of Mozart's death in December 1791 — a date the composer himself never reached comfortably, dying in Vienna at 35 under circumstances that remain medically debated to this day. Czechoslovakia had particular cause to claim Mozart as cultural territory: Prague famously embraced him when Vienna had grown lukewarm, and it was there that Don Giovanni premiered in 1787 to the kind of reception he rarely enjoyed at home.

The .700 silver fineness places this squarely in Czechoslovakia's late-era commemorative output, issued just months before the federation itself began its dissolution.
