| Additional information |
The Spartakiade was a mass gymnastics festival held in Prague every five years as a deliberate Soviet-bloc counter-spectacle to the Olympic Games — itself descended from the pre-war Sokol movement that communist authorities had suppressed and then quietly co-opted. The 1980 edition drew an estimated 180,000 performers to Strahov Stadium, one of the largest stadiums ever built.
The .500 fineness reflects Czechoslovakia's progressive debasement of its commemorative silver through the 1970s.
