Beschrijving voorzijde The Czechoslovak Socialist coat of arms is prominently displayed in the central field, depicting a double-tailed lion rampant within a shield surmounted by a five-pointed star, rendered in bold relief. The national legend arcs in two lines across the lower field, reading ČESKOSLOVENSKÁ SOCIALISTICKÁ REPUBLIKA, with the denomination 100 KČS inscribed below in large stylized numerals. The overall design is bold and emblematic, consistent with the official heraldic conventions of the socialist state.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of the Slovak Romantic poet Ján Botto's birth, this commemorative was part of Czechoslovakia's sustained program of silver issues honoring Slovak cultural figures — a program that served the political need to demonstrate parity between the Czech and Slovak halves of the federation after the 1968 constitutional reforms. Botto is best remembered for his 1862 epic poem Smrť Jánošíka, a romanticized treatment of the outlaw folk hero Juraj Jánošík.

KM#99 was struck at the Kremnica Mint, which has operated continuously in Slovakia since 1328.
