Additional information

Czechoslovakia hosted the Ice Hockey World Championship in Prague in 1985, and the national team delivered — winning gold on home ice, a result that carried obvious political weight during the Cold War period when ice hockey served as one of the few arenas where socialist states competed directly and publicly against Western ones. The ČSSR program had already claimed gold in 1976, 1977, and 1978, making the 1985 victory a return to form after Soviet dominance through the early 1980s.

The .500 fineness is notably low for a commemorative silver issue, a compromise that became common in Czechoslovak coinage of this decade as silver costs rose.
