Trial strikes of this type were produced for internal approval within the Czechoslovak State Mint at Kremnica — not for circulation, not for collectors, and not for official presentation sets. They exist because the mint's technical committee required struck specimens to evaluate die alignment, metal flow, and edge quality before authorizing a production run. Andrej Sladkovič, the Slovak Romantic poet whose bicentennial this coin nominally marks, would have had no shortage of irony to offer about a brass facsimile of himself being evaluated by a socialist state committee.
Kremnica trial pieces from this period rarely left institutional hands.
