Issued to mark the centenary of the Czechoslovak koruna, which was introduced in 1919 when the newly formed Czechoslovakia severed its currency ties with the defunct Austro-Hungarian krone. The commemorative status makes this an unusual piece from Státní Tiskárna Cenin — a state security printer that has produced Czech banknotes continuously since the communist period and remains responsible for the entire current series.
Kulhánek designed much of the standard Czech circulation series, and both engravers here — Ondráček on the obverse, Fajt on the reverse — are established figures in Czech intaglio work. The note is legal tender despite its commemorative designation.
