| Obverse description | Three-quarter left-facing portrait of Prime Minister Michael Somare, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored field, with finely detailed facial features and short hair. Five five-pointed stars representing the Southern Cross constellation are arranged in their characteristic pattern to the left of center. The large denomination mark K100 dominates the lower field, with the tail feathers of the bird elegantly intertwining with the numeral. The fineness inscription 900/1000 FINE GOLD and the Franklin Mint mark FM appear along the lower border above the beaded rim. |
