| Obverse description | At the top of the obverse, the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine is displayed above the date 2009, with the three-line Cyrillic legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) immediately below. The central field features a stylized depiction of the Solar System rendered against a background of orbital paths, with Earth — the third planet from the Sun — set as an inlaid blue topaz gemstone of approximately 0.2 carats. Superimposed upon the orbital design is an armillary sphere, the classical astronomical instrument historically used to determine the coordinates of celestial bodies.
