Opmerkingen

The Curaçaosche Bank — founded in 1828 and functioning as the central monetary authority for the Netherlands Antilles — issued this note during a period when the guilder's peg to the US dollar was being carefully managed against the backdrop of growing autonomy following the 1954 Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The charter granted the Netherlands Antilles full internal self-governance, but monetary policy remained conservative and tightly administered through the Bank.

Joh. Enschedé en Zonen had printed Netherlands Antilles currency for decades from their Haarlem facility, and by 1958 their intaglio work on colonial and post-colonial Dutch-affiliated issues was well established. The 100 Gulden was the highest denomination in this series, meaning circulation was limited and surviving examples with honest wear rather than archival folds are genuinely less common.
