正面描述 Two allegorical female figures with a traveling case occupy the upper central vignette, flanked on each side by lateral vignettes of early steam locomotives on railways; ships are visible in the background. Denomination numerals "100" appear at lower left and right, with the full payment obligation text in German Fraktur script across the central text panel. The printer's imprint of Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. of Philadelphia and New York appears at the base.

备注

Bank in St. Gallen was one of Switzerland's earliest cantonal banks, and this 1837 note is among the more geographically improbable artifacts in Swiss paper money — printed in the United States by Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co., the Philadelphia and New York security firm that also engraved early American bank notes and postal currency. Swiss institutions occasionally contracted American printers during this period precisely because domestic facilities could not yet match the anti-counterfeiting sophistication of the intaglio work coming out of northeastern U.S. shops.

Draper, Toppan, Longacre dissolved and reorganized in the 1850s, eventually folding into what became the American Bank Note Company.
