| Obverse description | The obverse features the national coat of arms of Suriname at center, depicting a quartered shield bearing a sailing ship at left and a palm tree at right, supported by two indigenous figures in traditional dress standing on either side. The entire composition is encircled by an elaborate wreath of laurel and tropical foliage rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The legend SURINAME arcs along the lower portion of the design, with the motto JUSTITIA PIETAS FIDES inscribed on a ribbon across the base of the shield. |
