Obverse description Facing effigy of Sitting Bull, the celebrated Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux chief, depicted from the shoulders upward with his hair parted centrally and a single feather rising from his head. He wears a fringed garment adorned with a beaded necklace, rendered in high relief with careful attention to portraiture. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI arcs along the upper periphery, while SITTING BULL SIOUX is inscribed along the lower border.
