附加信息

This coin belongs to Haiti's 1971 commemorative gold series issued under François "Papa Doc" Duvalier — or more precisely, under his son Jean-Claude, who assumed the presidency in April of that year following his father's death. The Osceola piece is among the more historically peculiar choices in the set: a Haitian state commemorating a Seminole leader who fought the United States government in Florida in the 1830s, with no direct connection to Haitian history.

The series was minted by the Valcambi refinery in Switzerland for collector export, never intended for domestic circulation.
