| Obverse description | Central design features a large racing sailboat with billowing sails dominating the right portion of the field, rendered in fine detail against a mirror-polished background. To the left, a stylized nautical compass rose or ship's wheel motif is depicted, bearing the circular legend 'SAIL FOR EUROPE' at its centre. The dates '1977' and '1978' appear in the right field. The legend 'REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI' curves along the upper rim, while the inscriptions 'COURSE AUTOUR DU MONDE DU VOILIER' and 'TRAITE DE ROME' are distributed along the left and right borders respectively.
