Opmerkingen

The American Bank Note Company held Haiti's printing contracts for decades, and this 100 Gourdes note falls within a period of particular political rigidity — the Duvalier family had consolidated enough control by 1980 that even the central bank's note contracts carried a kind of institutional inertia. ABNC's New York facility produced the full series run across these two years before the relationship with Haitian monetary authorities eventually shifted to other suppliers.

The watermark is the sole security feature — unusually spare for a high-denomination note of this period, when many comparable issuers were already incorporating security threads.
