Inter-Filac VZW was a Belgian philatelic and numismatic society operating out of Woumen, a hamlet in the municipality of Diksmuide in West Flanders — a region still scarred by First World War artillery damage that permanently altered the hydrology of the Ijzer plain. That disruption inadvertently created the wetland conditions that made the area a stronghold for *Gallinago gallinago*, the common snipe, whose population in the Ijzervallei was significant enough by the 1980s to anchor local conservation identity. The denomination of 100 units reflects the private scrip conventions common among Belgian collector clubs of the period, carrying no legal tender status.
