| Aanvullende informatie |
Albania's 1927 gold coinage was struck at the Rome Mint as part of Ahmet Zogu's broader project to establish institutional legitimacy following his proclamation as President — and shortly before his self-coronation as King Zog I in 1928. The National Bank itself had only been founded that same year, with Italian capital playing a dominant role in its structure. "Prova" issues from this series were pattern or trial strikes produced in limited numbers for official approval, never released for general circulation.
The Rome Mint's involvement reflects Albania's tight financial dependency on Mussolini's Italy throughout this period.
