Obverse description Central to the design is a detailed depiction of the first Liberty milestone (Borne de la Liberté No. 0), a cylindrical marker adorned with a winged torch emblem and inscribed plaques, rendered in low relief against a mirror-like proof field. A stylized map or route pattern composed of wave-like striations radiates across the upper field, evoking the Voie de la Liberté — the liberation route of 1944. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs along the left and right periphery, while the inscription VOIE DE LA LIBERTE 1944 appears prominently in the upper field. The denomination 100 FRANCS and the date 1994 are boldly engraved to the lower right in a modern sans-serif typeface.
