Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair. The engraver's signature LAGRIFFOUL appears in small letters below the truncation, accompanied by the date 1956. The circular legend around the periphery reads RAINIER III PRINCE DE MONACO. The portrait is executed in a clean, modern medallic style characteristic of mid-20th century French coinage art.

Reverse description Central device consists of the quartered arms of Monaco — the Grimaldi escutcheon divided into lozenges of argent and gules — surmounted by a princely crown with ermine lining, rendered in fine relief. The motto DEO JUVANTE is split across the upper field on either side of the crown. The denomination 100 FRANCS curves boldly along the lower portion of the field, and the word ESSAI appears in the exergue below the shield, confirming this piece as a pattern strike. The overall design is crisp and well-centered within a plain inner border.
