| Beschrijving keerzijde | A highly detailed, full-colour depiction of the Majestic Angelfish (Pomacanthus navarchus) fills the central field, rendered with vivid polychrome application showcasing the species' characteristic deep blue, orange, and yellow colouration. The fish is shown in profile facing left, positioned above a finely engraved coral reef environment with textured marine flora and fauna in the background field. The series title SEA'S AMAZING WILDLIFE arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 100 FRANCS appears in the lower legend, both set against the coin's characteristic dot-and-dash decorative border. The scientific name POMACANTHUS NAVARCHUS is inscribed across the central field above the fish motif. |

Burundi's marine-themed collector issues from this period were produced under contract by the Bavarian State Mint on behalf of the Banque de la République du Burundi — a landlocked country with no coastline, making the Pomacanthus navarchus, a Indo-Pacific angelfish found nowhere near Central Africa, a purely commercial choice aimed at the international numismatic market rather than any domestic cultural reference.
