| Obverse description | Helmeted bust of Marianne facing left, rendered in high relief in the style engraved by Raymond Joly, her flowing hair visible beneath the Phrygian-style helmet. The engraver's signature R·JOLY appears in the right field below the neck truncation. The circumferential legend RÉPVBLIQVE FRANÇAISE arcs around the upper periphery, flanked by two raised dots at the base, with the date 1974 inscribed at the bottom. The entire design is framed by a decorative border of alternating triangular and chevron motifs of Melanesian inspiration. |
