Aanvullende informatie

The BEAC was established in 1972 to serve six central African states — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — and the early 1970s saw an intensive program of pattern strikes as the new institution tested designs and alloys before committing to circulating production. This 1975 nickel essai represents part of that exploratory phase. Equatorial Guinea's inclusion was notable; the former Spanish colony had only joined the CFA franc zone in 1985 — actually adopting the currency in stages following independence in 1968.

Pattern pieces from BEAC's formative years rarely entered commerce and most went to archives or specialist collections. KM#E16 is seldom encountered outside curated holdings.
