The word FRANCS appears in a straight legend beneath the numeral, and the date 1965 is inscribed above. The entire central device is enclosed within a decorative circular border featuring an elaborate rope-and-geometric pattern with four evenly spaced lug-like ornaments at the cardinal points, all set within the plain outer rim. This is the pattern (essai) type, struck without the ESSAI inscription.
