100 francs Panthéon pié-fort platine

The Panthéon 100 francs was France's first modern bimetallic circulation coin, introduced in 1982 — but the piéforts in platinum were strictly for collectors and presentation sets, struck at dramatically higher relief than the circulation pieces. Piéforts by convention carry twice the standard planchet thickness, which in platinum at this weight makes these among the most substantial modern French collector issues by sheer mass.

The series ran annually through 1989, with each year's platinum piéfort struck in extremely limited quantities by the Monnaie de Paris.
