Obverse description Right-facing portrait effigy of Marie Curie occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with fine engraved detail by Raymond Corbin. The legend MARIE CURIE arcs along the upper periphery, while the inscription ESSAI flanks the portrait with the dates 1867 and 1934 denoting her birth and death years respectively.
