The Democratic Republic of Congo has issued a stream of small-format gold fractionals under wildlife themes since the mid-2010s, primarily targeting the collector bullion market rather than any domestic monetary function. At 0.5 grams, this piece contains just under one sixty-second of a troy ounce of fine gold — a format pioneered largely by Austrian and Czech minters and now licensed or contracted widely across African issuing authorities.
