背面描述 A symmetrical laurel and olive wreath, tied at the base with a ribbon bow, encloses the denomination in two lines: CINQ FRANCS, separated from the date 1831 by a horizontal rule. The mint mark A (Paris) appears to the left of the date, with the engraver's differend to the right, all within a beaded border. The open field within the wreath gives the design a clean, classical appearance.

附加信息

Louis-Philippe's early coinage was politically fraught — the July Monarchy needed imagery that distanced itself from both Bourbon legitimacy and Napoleonic imperialism without looking republican. This 1831 pattern was part of that negotiation, produced as the new regime auditioned competing designs before settling on an official type. The Mazères reference catalogues several variants from this period, reflecting genuine indecision at the highest levels of government about how the king of the French — pointedly not king of France — should present himself on the national coinage.

Patterns of this type were struck in very limited numbers for ministerial review, not circulation.
