Reverse description The denomination 100 FRANCS is displayed in two bold lines at the centre of the field, separated from the date 1831 by a horizontal rule, with the mint mark A (Paris) to the right of the date and an anchor-like privy mark to the left. The entire central motif is encircled by a wreath composed of olive branches on the left and oak branches on the right, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. A beaded border frames the design on the outer edge. The composition is symmetrical and typical of the formal, classical style employed for French pattern coinage of the period.
