Obverse description The obverse features the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of the Congo at centre, depicting a leopard head facing front flanked by an elephant tusk to the left and a spear to the right, all mounted on a decorative base bearing the motto PAIX; the words JUSTICE and TRAVAIL appear on the tusk and spear respectively. The date 2025 is inscribed in the field, divided on either side of the central device. The legend REPUBLIQUE DEMOCRATIQUE DU CONGO curves along the upper rim within a beaded border. The denomination 100 FRANCS is inscribed along the lower rim, with the fineness notation 1 oz Au 999 appearing in the lower central field.

The Banque Centrale du Congo has issued gold bullion coinage intermittently since the early 2000s, often targeting international collector and investor markets rather than domestic circulation — the DRC's own monetary economy runs almost entirely on small-denomination francs and, informally, US dollars. This 2025 issue continues that pattern.
