| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features a vivid color-printed depiction of a stained-glass window scene at center, showing a nativity or sacred gathering of figures including the Virgin Mary, the Christ Child, and attendant angels rendered in rich polychrome enamel. Overlaid at the left is a silver-toned relief effigy of Pope John Paul II in papal vestments and mitre, shown in three-quarter profile facing right and holding a pastoral cross. The legend 'ST. JOHN PAUL II' arcs along the upper left and 'CANONIZATION' along the upper right, with the date '27.04.2014' inscribed along the lower field. The combination of color inlay and raised metallic relief creates a striking dual-technique composition within a beaded border. |

Togo's authority to issue commemorative coinage of this kind flows through its membership in the West African Economic and Monetary Union, though such pieces are struck by private mints for the collector market and never see circulation in Lomé or anywhere else. The Vatican had no role in authorizing or endorsing this issue.
