| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is printed in orange-red and multicolour tones, with an intaglio portrait of Grand Duke Jean in three-quarter view positioned at centre-right, set against a fine line-engraved vignette of the Grand Ducal Palace at left. The denomination numeral '100' appears in the upper right corner, with 'CENT FRANCS' in bold letterpress at lower right, and two facsimile signatures with their respective titles below the palace vignette. Bradbury Wilkinson's final years as an independent operation coincided exactly with this series — the firm was absorbed into De La Rue in 1990, meaning later-dated specimens within the 1986–1993 run were technically produced under new ownership while retaining the same New Malden facilities and craft traditions. The Institut Monétaire Luxembourgeois replaced the Banque Internationale à Luxembourg as the note-issuing authority in 1983, and this note is among the first full series to carry that institutional identity from the outset.
Pit Weyer was a Luxembourgish designer, and his involvement reflects a deliberate choice to keep artistic direction domestic even while production remained offshore.
