| Obverse description | Left-facing allegorical effigy of Marianne, depicted with flowing hair styled in a modernist manner, occupying the central field. The legend REPVBLIQVE FRANCAISE arcs along the outer periphery from lower left to upper right. The abbreviation I.E.O.M. (Institut d'Émission d'Outre-Mer) appears in the lower field above the date 2015, which is inscribed at the base. A small engraver's initial 'B' is visible to the right of the portrait. |

The Îles des Saintes — a cluster of small islands off Guadeloupe's southern coast — were the site of the 1782 Battle of the Saintes, one of the most tactically significant naval engagements of the Age of Sail. Rodney's British fleet defeated de Grasse there partly through the then-unconventional maneuver of breaking the French line, a tactic that would later be credited as a forerunner of Nelson's approach at Trafalgar.
This piece is a local collector issue rather than circulating currency — France's official tender in Guadeloupe is the euro, and has been since 2002.
