| Additional information |
Île Tintamarre is an uninhabited nature reserve off the northeast coast of Saint Martin, protected under French law and accessible only by boat. It has no permanent population, no economy, and no practical connection to currency of any kind — which makes it an odd choice of subject for a circulating denomination that never actually circulated. Saint Martin's "local" franc issues are a known fantasy coinage series, produced for the collector market without any authorization from the French treasury or the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, which actually governs monetary affairs on the island's Dutch side.
