Obverse description Two ice hockey players in full equipment are depicted in dynamic action at centre ice, rendered in high relief against a lined rink background. An Alpine ibex, recumbent and naturalistically detailed, occupies the lower left foreground, serving as a symbolic reference to the Savoyard Alps and the Albertville host region. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE curves along the upper rim in bold incuse letters. The engraver's signature J. JIMENEZ appears in the lower field beneath the central composition.
