Rwanda's 1993 silver issues were produced during the final months before the country collapsed into genocide. The April 1994 killings effectively suspended all normal government functions, including the Banque Nationale, making this one of the last numismatic issues authorized under the pre-genocide administration. Whether any portion of the mintage was struck or delivered after the violence began is not clearly documented.
